How to reach NASA? - Part II

hai friends...how are we? ("what is this man! you send mails almost every day and ask how are we?...as if we have not interacted for
a long time!!!)*:)) laughing

other day, after sending that mail "How to reach NASA?", with in 30 mts i got a mail, from one of the students doing project at ISRO...that the mail has fired the rocket engines and the student is now motivated towards NASA!...good.

got a mail from a budding scientist who has published two papers in international journals after btech and waiting to join the famous labs at Germany!...he refused mtech and job and is focused to join the labs at germany...great!

also i got a mail from a classmate saying that interested students can be guided and helped through engineers and scientists working at NASA...what more we want!!!!*=D> applause

but i have decided that unless some sizable progress is made by the students, with respect to knowledge and collection of details as i have said, no more help!...there are many student 'ducks' who will not move their butts and expect us to burn our butts!...no way!*:) happy

one got furious and asked 'why NASA?...why not in india????
*:-B nerd'

It is clear that US and Russia are pioneers in space research...they have much more experience, technology and infrastructure with respect to this field...US is about 300 year old growth...india is only 65 years of growth...within this small time we have done certainly better...but it is better and wiser to go to NASA, get that knowledge, experience, technology and contribute here in india...the visionary Tamil poet Bharathi also says 'yettu thikkum selvom...kalai selvangal yaavum konarnthingu serpom'...thanks to my tamil medium corporation school syllabus which taught me all these...

which means 'let us all go around this earth and bring all sorts of knowledge to our country'...it includes science, technology, arts, cultures etc etc...he did not say 'wealth'...pl note!!!...so, leaving the country for making living or learning more and better knowledge etc is not wrong...as we have been created by nature with a word that 'the whole earth is yours!...you have the right to use with a responsibility to replenish whatever used and give the same right to others also'.

in my personal opinion, there is nothing known as brain drain as the country is second largest populated country and has the potential to produce even another 'world of people'!*:)) laughing...why not we increase our capability to provide good food, clothing, place to live, good education, moral values etc, produce more children and send them all over the world as a good 'human resource with values and morals' for a family, society or any organisation. This way, the whole world will become india one day!!!

ok,now the next mail...

one of the friends had asked how to 'remain' motivated all the time?
following are the possible things one can do...

1. ensure that you have a separate room for you. Fill the walls with photos of planets, galaxies, rockets, satellites, famous space scientists, astronauts, cosmonauts and such other information and photos related to space.

(when i got motivated during 1979, we, six of us lived in one room of 8ftx8ft. There was no space for anything. so, most of the time i remained at school lab. As i belonged to second batch of +2, there was no bio lab...no specimens. We were asked to make. So, i killed all the frogs and field rats...motivated the killer boys to get more frogs and rats by giving them one 'kamar cut' or 'then (honey) mittaai'...i.e one local cheap country mint. Our bathroom, which was shared by three families, became my operation theater. The wall rack of 3ftx3ft became my lab. The top rack had all god photos...my mother's temple! The next rack had all my medicine books (as i wanted to become doctor...neuro surgeon...motivated by the articles by Dr B Ramamoorthy, the famous neuro surgeon of India)...these books covered all aspects of medicine like physiology, surgical methods, pathology etc...even MD students used to borrow and read!!!...the third rack had all my specimens of rats and frogs...you can imagine the formalin solution smell!!!*:)) laughing...i was beaten up nicely many times for making the bathroom a mortuary (and smell badly) and making the pooja room(!!) a grave yard. Even neighbours complained!...But they could not throw me out from home as i was the only boy (*:)) laughing*:)) laughing) and they felt 'he is up to something!'...as they could see a heart pumping, lungs working etc live, during my surgeries!! (if you want to see, then do this...locate a frog...cover it up with an empty bucket, so that it will hop only inside...insert a cardboard nicely at the bottom of the bucket...frog now sits on the cardboard...now reverse the bucket with cardboard lid on top...frog falls inside the bucket...pour two mugs of water...pour little formaldehyde...frog will jump for few seconds and rest...now quickly transfer it to a dissection board and cut open the body...you can see heart and lungs working...as frog is not dead and it is only sleeping!!)...alas!!! one frog will lose its life!
2. make it in such a way that you can see the sky from your room through balcony or roof...so that you are always aligned towards space. Go to the terrace or from your room watch the sky for at least 15 mts every day. Once one of my friend asked "why are you looking at the moon always?"...i said "i have not seen US. So, no problem if i have not gone there. I have not seen Australia. So, no problem if i have not gone there.
But i see moon every day. It is there. So, close to me. But i have never gone there!...this is what makes me sad!!'...the point is jesus has seen that moon. Prophet mohammad has seen it. Napoleon has seen it. Our predators have seen it. Every life on earth has seen it from the day earth has formed. We are also lucky to see that moon which has been seen by all. But...but...hmm...unable to go there!
recently one father asked his son "tell me what you want on your birthday!'. He said 'i want some thing from space!'...his father sent a gas filled baloon with a camera, transmitter and a GPS up in the sky to the space. Camera recorded the entire flight from earth to space and back to earth. GPS transmitted the location of fall. Later both father and son went there, which was just few kilometers away, collected the balloon and watched the entire journey of the balloon from to earth to space and back!!!...so he got a gift from space!...this video is available on youtube.

3. when you are at room keep reading information about your subject of interest as i told yesterday, you can watch videos, clips, ppts, tutorials, talks (e.g www.TED.com) etc...by NASA (if some other place e.g fermi lab...then accordingly by people and organisations related to that place)

4. spend more time in college libraries...downloading and reading research articles...reading journals...

5. sleep by 11. Get up by 5 am. 6 hrs night sleep is must for night metabolism, take out toxic wastes, as storing them without night metabolism will affect your health, remaining awake, remaining focused, moods etc.

6. Go for a jog of 15 mts or a fast walk for 45 mts. Allocate about 20 mts for yoga and about 15 mts of silent meditation in a day. Go for a run in the college grounds, or at home on a walker with windows opened. No A/C.

7. avoid wasting of time. carry books or print outs of published articles or journals wherever you expect wastage of time e.g standing in queue, waiting for some one etc. Use that time for reading. If not possible listen to good music. At least the stress will be burst.

8. work, entertainment and rest are must. Rest is through sleep. Work is studying and researching in labs, libraries etc. Entertainment...in less time you should be able to burn all the stress...so it varies from person to person...generally any art form is supposed to relieve fast...singing...playing an instrument...certainly i don't recommend boozing, smoking or dancing late nights in bars and hotels in polluted environment.

9. try to cut off all the relationships or people or places or organisations which or who demotivate you or waste your time, force you to compromise or sacrifice. If they are parents or siblings or close relatives, just tell them 'I love you. I look after you. I am indebted to you for everything you have given me. I will do everything for you. If you really love me, then allow me to pursue my passion. You be with me rather than asking me to be with you. Please allow me to uplift your generation. Bring name and fame to your family. The way you want to be who you are, allow me to be who i am!'.

10. spend less time on distractions e.g social networks or avoid if possible or convert them to your advantage towards reaching your goal by getting connected to real positive helping people. Spend more time with motivators, help and service providers who can keep you going in the marathon.

11. Be adamant towards reaching the goal. Be bull headed (after my 10th i got job in govt printing press. Those days govt job was a real treasure. So, there was tremendous pressure on me to join. But i was adamant to study! Even after my bsc the same story. But i remained adamant and that is what i recommend.)

12. marriages, child births etc are mundane issues. Can you tell me one boy or girl who has not attained puberty or not married or not produced children?...don't quote isolated cases!...but in our culture lots of time, energy and emotions are spent and wasted getting high BP, anger, frustration etc in getting children married. Parents are always anxious on these. In life we should never worry about things which will happen with certainty. We have to just do things necessary spending less time and energy. We need to be focused on things which do not happen normally or need extra push, hard decisions etc to make it happen in life.

13. eat balanced diet...more of fruits and vegetables...less carbohydrate...as lack of these would affect our concentration in studies, we will feel tired, sleepy, unable to get up from bed, not interested in studies (mood variations), get sicknesses like cold, fever, head ache, body pain, loose motion etc...if we can regulate what goes inside the MOUTH and MIND, we are sure to be happy, healthy and successful!!!

14. listen to inspiring people and speeches!

15. imagine that you are already a space scientist, then you will get a pressure that you have to live up to that and start reading...your outlook, personality, habits and behaviours will change...if you think you are just a student then your bahaviours will be commensurate to that only...i am sure you will agree with me that behaviours of students and scientists are different.

if any one has any specific query it can be answered...otherwise more will come in future on this issue...'how to remain motivated?'

if you find it useful visit and tell others also about funnyrams.blogspot.com

yesterday one girl was complaining that every day some guy or the other makes 'approaches' to her and she feels it is a big menace!...as i have been saying always 'nature has produced men like that'...they only approach 'youthful and healthy' girls...no one makes approaches to older women or unyouthful and unhealthy young girls!...only thing is we have to learn to manage and avoid them. Never talk more to them. Never divulge with personal and family details. Indicate them that you are not interested. I will send some tips in the next mail.

also i found a website for girls to 'lean on' when ever they have any problem of any sort (thanks to my friend who told me this!)...even big people like condoleezaa rice (ex US foreign minister who decides the fate of the whole world!) give opinions and share their experiences of looking after family, children, parents and profession too....it is 'leanin.org'....

in case you want to learn more about psychology from experienced people then become a member in 'the psychology network'...type this in google to get the link...here about 45000 psychologists all over the world discuss on all types of topics...you can also type your views...a great place of learning!

i get some brainwave or pressure in the mind to type about a topic...when i type that time it becomes a comprehensive mail with full coverage of the topic...but usually when i type i get some interruptions...and after that i can not complete that mail to my satisfaction as the unknown pressure has gone...there are about 60 such pending draft mails on different topics of studies, career, management and psychology!!!...hopefully i release them one day!

ok guys and gals...keep rocking...bye*:-h wave
