hai friends...how are you?
some more interesting things are
here...
1. this is not for
psychologists!
Brain is a physical part of our body. It
contains many regions carrying out their individual functions. When they
function isloatedly, there is no 'mind'. When they function
interactively, then mind is formed. Mind is the functional correlate of
brain. All our problems are in mind.
Mind problems influence the
functioning of the body. Body problems affect the neurotransmitter
secretions and affect the mind. When the
brain gets affected or damaged due to accidents, diseass due to micro
organisms, deficiency diseases etc neuro surgeon, psychiatrist and
psychologist get involved. Neuro surgeon repairs the damaged part of the
brain using surgery and medicines. Psychiatrist corrects the
neurotransmitter secretions (responsible for mood, thinking etc which
affect our behaviours) through medicines. Psychologist corrects the
behaviours through suitable interventions or therapies.
Behaviour
changes are slow. So,the individual may not know as generally we don't
observe ourselves. For us, we are always alright and what ever we do it
right. We never do wrong things. It is observable only by the people
around. They can only find out behaviours which can lead to problems
later. So, when
the behaviours change from normal, usual, then we need to take them to
psychiatrist (not to temples, priests or people who drive away ghosts)
who will identify when the psychologist's help will be required and do
the needful.
(look at this!...as expected, a psychologist has read this!)
2. this is for every one!
when a psychologist studies, measures
behaviours and applies the suitable counselling therapy, intervention
etc then it is known as treatment. Here the doctor works with the
patient. My personal opinion is, this is not a correct environment...i.e
making a person know that he is abnormal, he can not live happily in
society with this behaviour, he is a psycho (social taboo), he needs to
go to a psychiatrist etc...as this
affects the mind of the individual more...as society keeps him away,
view with sympathy (not with empathy), even if he takes the treatment
and becomes normal the society still see him with the tag of 'psycho'.
Instead of this we should see the patient as a 'trainee'. i.e a person who needs to 'learn' (change behaviours)...i.e get educated on some issues related to life and living...which will change his behaviour...he is not identified or marked or stigmatised as a patient...as a psycho...here he is viewed as normal person needing some education....some learning...that is all.

psychiatrist, psychologist, patient, treatment, hotpital is one method...it does not have a good taste or feeling...has a negative connotation for living and life...
student, trainee, trainer, office, teaching is a different perspective...a constructive one...positive one...which one we should use?...when shall we start courses in a B school on managing behaviours?...and close the hospitals??? (i can see all the clinical psychologists doing this)...close the psychology courses in arts colleges?...and move psychology from social science to management discipline (earlier it was moved from arts to science)!!! (don't worry psychologists, you will get more pay in a management institutions than in an arts colleges!...don't get angry for this also...i know that 'psychology is a service' and psychologists are not money minded!!!)....
this is what will happen if an engineer and management professional reads psychology and sociology!!!...of course, jokes apart, it is towards a constructive path!...before the psychologists get high BP and throw chappals at me i do agree that it can not be done like that. Only the treatment part can be changed to this perspective and philosophy!
Psychologists, do you agree?
3. this is for all students and parents...
when we are in school or first year of
college, we should decide our favourite subject.
We should start
downloading and collecting information about the subject. Download
research papers on the subject.
Become members of yahoogroups related to
the subject. Google the educational institutions, research
organisations, other corporate organisations who are carrying out
research projects on the subject...all
these national and international level...should find out what are the
current researches in progress...we should link ourselves to all these organisations and projects.
All these information can be properly
presented on a paper...this becomes a review paper!...what we have
actually done is gathered knowledge about our subject...but this has
given us a credit of publishing a research paper!
during second
semester we must publish this.
Third sem do a mini project on this.
Fourth sem publish it as a paper.
Fifth sem go for an industrial
training to an organisation related to this subject (by this time you
would have already developed network of contacts). Take up a problem
with all elements of a research work and deliverables during the
training. Publish that as another paper in the next sem.
Seventh sem
take up a mega project on the same subject. Eighth sem publish that as a
paper.
Probably with all this you can even get a patent.
Now when you
attend an interview, when he asks 'what is your favourite subject?'
which in invariably a question in any interview, if you say 'sir, i have
five papers to my credit in so and so journal, have done two mini
projects, here are the reports, have done training at so and so orgn,
final year project is so and so and published as a paper in so and
so'...i am a member of all these organisations at different levels!'
you
think you will not get a job?...when we study for getting a
job we will not get it!...when study to become a good engineer and
authority in our subject, we will find many running behind us for giving
job and that time you can dictate your salary and perks!...You will sit
like a boss and the interviewer will sit like a mouse in front of
you!...so, let us
aim to become an authority rather than running behind authorities for
job!
this idea can still be made better with so many things added to it. Can you suggest?
4. This is also for all...professionals also
should publish papers!
all of us engineers, doctors and management
professionals do lots of projects in our organisation...guide
projects...find solutions for problems...but are we marking them on our
name?
we can publish them as technical papers or research articles in national or international journals...it gives recognition for us and our work.
unfortunately no one teaches this in the engg colleges...they only motivate us to do paper presentations so that we become good in communication skills and get a job.
has any one ever said to us at college or in our organisations that we can publish our work as research papers?...no!..because no one has done it.
At least our future generation should do this...so that you mark your foot prints in history as you walk in the profession. Slowly you will find that you become an authority in your subject and area of work without your knowledge.

this
paves way for you to be a consultant in many R & D organisations,
visiting professor in many institutions and an authority in your field
of interest...while you move up in your organisation.
Do you agree with me?
ok friends...bye...keep
rocking!
