Hmmm…when we read this question what comes to our mind is ‘a
person in coma or who has fainted or who is under general anaesthesia is the
one who is not having consciousness….all others have consciousness!’
A person who commits any crime also says that he has done it
with consciousness…
terrorist also says he did the mass murders with
consciousness…all these people feel they are right…what they did is the right
decision taken by that time in that situation…
A person in obsessive love or addictive love also says he is
conscious and his decisions are right…
A person who is depressed or having any mind related illness
is also said to be conscious…
So, our perception is that anyone whose eyes are opened and
is able to think is said to be in conscious state…
So, I think the state of consciousness has the elements of
sensing, or replaying stored memories, a process of thinking and forming
perceptions, emotions and resultant behavior…
If a person is able to derive happiness, good
physical-mental-social health, peace and success leading to self-transcend
without affecting the right for the other people for these can be said to be in
conscious state…all others are unconscious or subconscious or not in the right
state of consciousness!!!
And…and…and….being conscious is the nature of a balanced and
normal human being….if someone is not fitting inside this definition can be
called as ‘not a normal human being’ or not in the right state of
consciousness.
