Should we drink liquor to be successful in life?

Hai all...another FAQ...asked by colleges students to me...

1. Should we drink liquor to be successful in life?

Liquor is an addictive chemical. Those who drink argue that limited quantities, dilution, infrequent drinking, only social drinking, only specific liquors, at specific time of a day or night etc will not affect health. They might also argue that it is a medicine if taken in small quantities. But it is true that it is not required to keep a good physical, mental and social health. The advantages which we gain from this can be gained by other good for health natural sources also.

Age 13 to 20 is the 'window of vulnerability' in life during which all behaviours that are bad for health which slowly take us to grave are learnt. May be for social peer group acceptance. This becomes a stress relief later. Consumption only increases till doctor says you have to stop to remain alive! Those who say that they can control may not be able to control when they undergo mental stress due to unbearable sadness (loss of spouse, job, children, parents, property, serious illnesses etc). So, it is better not to pick up any such bad health habits.

All relationships are based on 'needs' (basic survival needs) and 'wants' (comforts). Resourcefulness is what is required to attract a person. So, if we are resourceful and are able to satisfy some needs and wants of a person then automatically people with good life behaviours will come to us. We need not consume liquor for peer group attraction/acceptance. Being a good, loving, helping human being is the best resource any one can have, as it is hard to find such people.

In life, small perceived wins and loses here and there does not matter. Ultimately victory at the end of life is what matters...i.e victory of peace, happiness, good physical-mental-social health and self-actualization. You ask people, what big they achieved without sacrificing any of these, they will at least agree to themselves that it was only a loss at the end...i.e small victory but actually big loss!!

It is a myth that armed forces people drink and have to drink for performing their jobs or social acceptance. There are more than 90% of youngsters of today who do not drink. It is not required for performing the jobs or social acceptance.

Parties are not for drinking but for socializing, getting to know people and see how best we can be resourceful to them, community /society and organization.

I have not touched even a drop of even beer and i have enough good friends. Many have tried to change me but got changed. I have traveled to many countries as a Govt Official as a leader / member of delegations and in parties and toasts taken only water which they have accepted and respected.

so, drinking liquor is not required to be successful in life, in all terms.

Yoga helps to remain cool, calm, focused and away from urges for all these addictive chemicals and also to get the same effect that these chemicals give.
