Dear all...every one has problems in their mind...every one applies coping skills and moves forward in life...those who are not able to seek the help of friends, counselors etc...here are some basics...
1. We need to first understand, believe and have faith and confidence that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO MIND. ANY MIND RELATED PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED / CURED. ONLY IN CASE OF DAMAGED OR SPOILED BRAIN DUE TO ACCIDENTS, DISEASES ( ADVANCED STAGES OF PCHIZOPHRENIA…I.E ‘PAITHHIYAM’), SURGERIES ETC IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO CURE COMPLETELY. BUT STILL IMPROVEMENTS ARE POSSIBLE.
2. One intervention may not be sufficient. Mostly we will have to use multiple interventions related both to the body and mind (As body and its needs are linked to mind, as mind is formed from the brain and brain is the physical part of the body…some interventions will be required to the body also).
3. If we are able to do our daily chores at home, office, society and we are generally able to keep the social dynamics in our relationships well above waters, then there is no medication required. If our mind is able to hear, listen, agree, accept, understand, all that is said by the counsellor and able to think, perceive a thing that results in changed behaviour then no medication required. We can become better, happy, peaceuful, contented with only behaviour modification, life style changes etc.
4. If any problem in doing things at point 3 above, then medication is ALSO required till such time the doctor and counsellor both feel that brain can sustain the stable secretions and can by itself create a stable and healthy mind with out the support of the medicines. Psychiatrist will identify the damage and decide which medicine and dosage levels can produce a balanced secretion and the psychologist counselor will identify the PROBLEM BEHAVIOURS (OVERT AND COVERT), THINKING AND EMOTIONS, THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS…then he will do many things to change perception, change life styles, apply behaviour modification techniques etc so that mind and behaviours handshake and fall in place to give the person happiness, peace and can live a life with great health.
5. The person should know and accept that there are health compromising problem behaviours in him/her. This is the first step. If the person is convinced and believes that he/she is living a perfect and correct life then also medication will be required depending upon the ‘problem learning’ that has happened. E.g those who derive ‘pleasure’ in the body or mind in their behaviours, which can cause serious body/mind illness or social/legal/financial problems later, will not agree that they have problem…in fact they will fight tooth and nail and do anything to ensure that they don’t lose the object or person or place or item or in general the ‘source of pleasure’ due to fear of insecurity of pleasure…especially if it is a body need…also those with obsession and obsession compulsion disorders also will not agree that they have a problem.
