saw a news on net in 'dina malar'...tamil daily....it was almost same
as the story which i wrote in 'bhagya', tamil weekly magazine...twenty
years back...!!!!
the
news says, two couple were waiting at a petrol station when supply went
off...so without their knowledge they got interchanged and
one couple realised only when the girl behind asked 'why you are going
this way, when we have to turn there!'...so they had to come back to
petrol station and exchange the girls...

i used to write with my mother's name...athivinayaki...adding subramanian to it...i.e athivinayaki subramanian...generally i give my name or name people known to me for my characters...here it is mani...most of the kathaikalam i.e place of happening is coimbatore or places of my friends...
the purpose of this mail is to tell you that any one can write stories and poems...you can also write...even a story of literature standard...not difficult...only blessed people can write stories and poems is a myth...we can even sing or paint...nothing is the property of anyone...and everything is our property...all art forms give the real happiness...to accept it you have to experience it...and it is not difficult...it is just that you have to accept the fact that you can do...and you really don't know about your own self till the last breath!...this is a fact!...so, start turning your pages from today onwards...in studies...in job...in writing...in singing...in playing a musical instrument etc etc etc...be a 'padaippaali!!' of course, some are gifted by birth, the difference between them and us are 1. they can write instantly for a given topic whereas we can write what comes to our mind 2. their first draft itself will be good, whereas we have to correct correct and correct, but it can become better than theirs!
it is good stress burster...we get paid too...we get fame too...
my mom went into tears to see her name appearing in mags which are read by lakhs in tamil nadu....
my parents and relatives felt great to see great and dream artists like ma.se, ars etc drawing for my stories...some were happy to see their name as characters in stories...some wanted their place name to come and came...some wanted the stories to be happening in their place of living and it happened...so, you can give immense pleasure to others too by writing...
now how to publish your stories in mags?...first...select the mag that should publish your story...read the type of stories which appear in that mag...e.g length, language used, themes selected, style etc...modify your thoughts to suit to this container...i.e the mag...write and keep it for some time...take it and read after a month...you will be able to see the mistakes or the upgrades that you can do...give to handful people who are concerned about your growth...take their comments...incorporate only those which are convincing...once you feel it is now ready to publish, write in double line spacing with neat handwriting, or type and print, and send it to the mag...some mags intimate you when they select to publish...some do not...so you have to keep track...no other way...some times it takes even months or a year to publish, as many are in queue...you need to have patience...
the story attached here is the style which was acceptable at that time in that mag...
