hai friends...how are we?
hope
you enjoyed the mail on 'the bloody indian culture!'...more could have
been written but due to paucity of time and length of the mail i
restricted...anyway...still many years to go!
i
have not read
bhagwat geetha or quran or bible...i have not read any book on
culture...i have not attended any religious discourses...i have not met
any gurus or sadhus etc...i have read in bits and pieces here and there
the way you all have read...so, we are all same!...may be you are better by reading these books...
my parents took my daughters to satsungs...but at the end they told them 'thatha! we have read all these from our books!...nothing new he said!'
only the school books have been my bible, geetha or quran...my teachers in corporation schools and other schools were my gurus...i have conceived my culture on my own and live...in fact all of us live our own culture...modifying the existing ones and bringing them into our comfort zones...no one follows any culture to the chore!

i
have always been a 'problem kid' for my parents, sisters and my significant
people...always questioning...always reasoning out everything......even now!!!
i
don't remember my life below four years...i remember my life from age 5
onwards...i.e first std...it was at a village called
'sivagiri'...second std was at a place called 'yezhumathur'...both are
villages...so, life was 'living with nature'!!!...catching fishes and
tadpoles in canals, ponds,
small rivers,
catching insects, flying kites, playing all
country games, observing the
nature...
third std onwards at coimbatore...here too we...self and father, created an 'amazon forest' within about 600 sq ft of land...it had trees like two coconut trees, one curry leaves tree, one guva tree, two banana trees, one drum stick tree, one 'agathhi keerai' (leaves can be cooked) tree, three papaya trees...other than these we had plants of anything you name as fruit or vegetable...like cauliflower, cabbage, cotton, neem, pomagranette, brinjal, tomato, beetroot, mullapoo (jasmine flower), white and yellow pumpkins, about 5 or 7 types of greens (keerai), flowering plants from sunflower to small ones, chilli, etc...we followed crop rotation, so all were there in rotation...

all
these were hybrid
with seeds from the tamil nadu agricultural university, so each plant
gave fruits or veggies equivalent to 10 normal plants...e.g each brinjal
weighed about 300 to 500 gms...each plant always had about 20+
brinjals...
lots of hardwork, digging the land, bringing manure and making it fertile, getting the pesticides and applying etc...but enjoyed it...as i did not do it expecting something in return...did just for fun!

in addition i also had a dog, a big cage of love birds, a small
poultry with about 20 chickens, lots of fishes...neighbours had cats...
with all these on either side with a cemented walk way for about 40 ft at the middle, it was like a
real jungle...or garden...with lots
of birds, all types of insects visiting my house...of course, snakes too...
for
this garden there was no water...so i used to take my cycle with two
pots and go around the city to get water...all the time went playing
with these animals and plants...looking after them, taking them to
hospital, buying foods etc...
sight means sight of
these plants and animals...talking, singing, playing are all with
these...every day i used to get about 20 red guvas with soft seeds,
about 5 pomagranettes, about 15 eggs, one or two papays, 1 kg of tomato
and some more kgs of other veggies...lots of flowers...
in a nutshell...total 'abundance of everything'!!!...including love!!!
in a nutshell...total 'abundance of everything'!!!...including love!!!
moment
i am sighted at the end of the road, my eagerly waiting dog will run
towards me and lick me all over...after about 10 mts of play and
cuddling with it when i go to the poultry all the chicks will
round up me for freedom...requesting me to open the gate...moment i
open they rush one over the other and enjoy moving around my amazon
forest eating insects and white ants...but good boys and girls!...when i
call them inside with mixer, kudirai masal plant and water they run
inside without making any fuss ...the
way they rush, run, eat from my hand used to be amazing...playing with
them, observing them laying eggs, hatching, the young ones coming out
from the eggs, popping the head out of the mother's feathers, the way
mother brings them out for food, the way it fights with crows, eagles
etc to protect the kids etc was a real fun...
then i move on to love birds...then to fishes..then with neighbour's cats...then with my plants...every plant was my baby...each and every leaf of each plant had my touch...every insect was my pet...seeing the baby plants coming out from seed opening their blanket from seed to breath the fresh air and see the world, the innocent smile with the first two leaves...woff i had great friends!!!
i sold the excess of eggs and veggies, got good money to spend for them and to save
too!!!
so my child hood was filled and surrounded with nature...nature and nature!!! the unconditional love of my dog, insects, love birds, chicks, fishes, cats, my ever smiling plants, flowers, fruits
and what not!!!!then i move on to love birds...then to fishes..then with neighbour's cats...then with my plants...every plant was my baby...each and every leaf of each plant had my touch...every insect was my pet...seeing the baby plants coming out from seed opening their blanket from seed to breath the fresh air and see the world, the innocent smile with the first two leaves...woff i had great friends!!!
so my child hood was filled and surrounded with nature...nature and nature!!! the unconditional love of my dog, insects, love birds, chicks, fishes, cats, my ever smiling plants, flowers, fruits
so i saw nature as my god and mother...the products of nature as my friends and relatives...all other things like idols or god stories or anything or any one i saw or heard or watched were all only 'symbols of healthy and happy living' and nothing more than that...i did not believe in the superstitions attached to them as 'free' gifts...only the positive things contributing to health, happiness and achievements were taken and all others were not taken...
all those who talked to me had 'kundakka mandakka' (intriguing)
questions from me...though they were not comfortable with me thinking that 'not an 'obedient' child', i am sure after they left the place would have thought about it and felt the truth in that...those who listened to elders and obeyed 'without questions' only were considered as 'good' boys...may be even now...
some e.gs are...
'amma! why i am going to corporation school?...why not to a better school?'
'because big money is required!'
'if you can not provide me good education, clothing and food then why did you give birth to me?'
------- ---------
'amma! is it correct to have a big tummy?'
'No!'
'then why lord ganesh has a big tummy? He does not exercise or what?'
----- ------
'amma! who is it?'...showing the god photo at home
'she is valli! Lord murugan's wife!'
'then who is she?'...showing the other goddess near lord murugan
'she is deivaanai! she is also his wife!'
'If god can have two wives why not the neighbour uncle...why that aunty is fighting with him?'
------ -------
'amma! why did you give birth to akka?'
'we wanted to have a child and so she was born!'
'why did you give birth to me?'
'because we wanted to have a boy!'
'but the writing on the compound wall says we should not have more than one child!'
'?????'
'why did you go to the hospital and killed the child last year?'
she got angry and said 'Get lost from here!!!'
i did not leave her...'and why did you give birth to a child this year?'
you know what would have happened!!!...i used to get beaten nicely for asking all such type of questions...but i used to stand like a rock and say 'beating does not make a wrong a right!!!'
They thought 'once he grows he will become alright! He does not know the world...that is why!!'...still they are hoping that i will change one day!!!
ok guys and gals...the mail has become very long...let us come now to the lessons learnt
1. we are products of nature and the more we live close to nature the more we will be happy, healthy and achieve too.
2. all animals and plants which does not have the sixth sense give pure unconditional love...i.e they don't expect anything from us...they can find all their needs by themselves...but they give tons and tons of true happiness!...the happiness they give or we perceive from them can not be equated to any other happiness or pleasure.
3. human beings, existing in any culture in the world, have to learn to give unconditional love to others...it is not natural...it is learnt...but what we learn from the people around is 'conditional love' which can not give us and the other person pure happiness always.
4. therefore, while we exist with human beings it is imperative for us to have sources of unconditional love in our lives. The more they are the more you will experience the unconditional love and therefore pure happiness. They can be in reality or in fantasies. The less you have the less you experience pure happiness and more you will have unhappiness and unhealthy life!...of course, less achievements too!...of course, if you get some one who can give unconditional love all the time then you are lucky!
5. we can create amazon forests even in a small place....
6. even one small plant or one insect is enough to give us happiness...it could be even on a display unit!
ok guys and gals...keep rocking on 0422-2683035 also...
bye
