Hi Rams,
Your articles are thought provoking. Especially I like this one.
Why don’t you think of collecting all your past writings, restructure them and publish as an ebook?
Note:
I have intentionally clicked ‘reply all’ to see what others in the group email think about it.

guys and gals! i have not met him or spoken to him after he left mit in 1986...this is the third mail!

hai friends...when i joined MIT, in 1984, ragging was in full swing, Mr Kailash and his gang came, when they came to know that i am from PSG Tech BSc (Applied Sciences), they took me to a room and said 'hai! here our guys are excellent in science, as only gold medalists and top rankers could enter. But our guys are weak in spoken english. We have plans to start an association called Personality Development Association (PDA). You be an active member, ok!'. I instantaneously agreed and we held the meetings under the trees and here and there.

Those days, tamil nadu had only 7 engg colleges other than IIT, Chennai and REC, Trichy. They had only NSS and NCC. PDA was first of its kind started by a group of students at MIT. As the members interacted, started speaking in english, day to activities, on stage, about national and international issues they gained confidence of public speaking. It changed their overall personality. The campus placement went up. Every guy used to get about three jobs. The interview committees appreciated the placement officer. The news spread about PDA. The administration also recognised and helped us with guest speakers, room and other infrastructure. I was treasurer for two years when Mr Kailash was secretary and chairman. During my second year, our PDA team used to go to first years' hostel in the night after the ragging is over, like the 'lady with a lamp'...apply medicine to their wounds with our words, motivated them to join PDA...During final year i became the chairman and that is the time Dr Sathikh, Director, MIT took it up with the Anna University, PDA got it approved at par with NCC and NSS. Now it is there in almost all the 550 engg colleges in the state. So, this is the story of PDA!!!

Thank you kailash sir!

now...the rape at delhi is rocking the country. Everyday many rapes take place. Only one or two get reported. It is a shame that a human being can not live here safely!...why rape?...due to urges of body!...due to negative emotions like anger, revenge feeling, frustrations, hate  etc against a religion, region, society, caste or person!...so, some of our people are unable to 'regulate' urges and emotions!!!(if i use the 'control' word again, the ME (control systems) students will kill me saying 'we are spending two years and few lakhs to get the degree and job and this guy is saying 'no controls...no control systems...only 'regulate' etc!'*:) happy..hihihi...even regulating requires measurement of parameters of variables, comparator, applying the necessary feed back correction to correct the variables...so, don't worry!...your lakhs are saved!*:) happy...there can not be a good living or life or system without feed back control systems!

so, some are unable to regulate the 'urges and emotions'. Can we leave this issue saying out of 120 crores, only one or two?..but this one or two is every day in one city or state!...when we add up, it is a huge number! Anyway, it is a cruel crime and so we should not look at statistics. The concept of life, way of living (food and health practices particularly)...i.e culture...in this secular country...not teaching them how to 'regulate' their urges and emotions?

these days it is a season of Lord Aiyappa devotees going to sabari mala at kerala...the devotees are supposed to follow certain good health behaviours for 20+ days before they go on the pilgrimage...probably the elders have made it with a good intention like this so that people will leave their bad health behaviours which they have been following...three reasons...1. fear of lord aiyappa that he will punish 2. they will appreciate the goodness of new good health behaviours  and realise the badness of bad health behaviors they have been following 3. any behaviour when followed for more than 20 days will become  a habit...

what a good intention!...lakhs and lakhs of devotees visit every year! imagine lakhs and lakhs of people leaving their bad physical and mental health behaviours!!!...imagine what will happen to this country, our society  if so many people become good, leaving their bad after the pilgrimage!......no rapes!!! no un-regulated urges!!! no un-regulated emotions! what a nice feeling!!!

But observe for your own self, how many retain their good health behaviours?...they only follow it as a 'ritual' and break the behaviours the very next or the same day!...some 'celebrate'(?) with a big booze party or such 'types'...as if they were suffering and now they are free!!!

so, many good things are only on paper...they are only rituals for us...another good example is 'if you change your religion, you can marry my daughter!'...'if you change your caste, you will get the job through quota!'...so, if you change your religion on paper you can get the girl or boy you want! the job or college or school admission you want...the society accepts him or her in the new religion or caste...with just the change on paper...for us everything is only a 'ritual'...we are not bothered about if the guy or girl is 'following the concept of life...way of living...as per religion, region, caste etc'!

what a bloody bunch of fake people we are!!!...these are the holes in our culture...the way we live and accept things!...are we following the true indian culture?...are we following the true procedures that will lead us to true good health and happiness???

ok guys and gals...keep rocking...*:-h wave
